Posting and Use Guidelines Welcome to PeopleField! We've put together a few general guidelines that should help sell your goods, and create a positive community! A Good Descriptive Title Because many people will just see the title of your classifieds (eg. “3 Newborn Orange Tomcats For Sale or Adoption”), make sure you use descriptive and enticing words when listing your ad! Ad which say “For Sale” or “Must Go Now” don’t tell the person looking for a specific object any details, or entices them to look at your ad! Post A Way for People To Contact You By default, PeopleField.org sets your email address to “hidden” – so either change your email address to “show” or make sure that you include some way for people to contact you in your ad (your wouldn’t believe the number of people who forget). As a bonus – for those people who set their email to “show”, we encrypt the email address against email harvesters (programs that look for addresses on websites), and protect you from spam (which doesn’t happen if you just put it in the ad). Make Sure People Know You Are Local If you post a link or a generic ad to a product, without indicating that you are local to the community (put the fact that you operate out of city “X”, or a local phone number), we’ll get complaints that you’re likely spam and may remove the ad! We do focus on local, so let people know you live in the community! Forums are for Non-Commercial Usage Please refrain from commercial postings in the forums. They’re designed for community – an important part of life that’s not about selling someone products. The classifieds are designed for your commercial postings. We encourage users to tag forum posts that are commercial so we can quickly address the improper usage. Respect what the post asks Posting on PeopleField is not an open invitation to being inundated with email or phone calls. People normally post a method on how to reply to their classified, job posting, or property listing - and we ask that you respect that. Our job postings in particular all have specific requests on how to respond to a posting. Please read carefully! Take responsibility for your own posts Our Terms of Service clearly indicate that you are responsible for everything you post. Please remember that your words are your own - and can be capable of hurting others even in an anonymous setting like online forums. We've had years of experience running public, online, forums - and we know this to be true. PeopleField is about community - and we will take action to ensure that this community is healthy, supportive, and grows. PeopleField is Person to Person Our classified section is designed for Person-to-Person use. If you are a business or broker, please take care to clearly identity that you are. This is extremely important with job listing, and housing , which include sections to identify your role. Over The Line We're not big on being the "Site Police", and have found great success in running online forums and exchanges based on peer review. Unfortunately, and occasionally, we need to step in. PeopleField clearly holds to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and will remove posts that conflict with the spirit of that document (removing that which is based on racism, sexism, discrimination). Spam, Abuse, Concern PeopleField attempts to control both our own use of your email address (you can set your preferences in your user profile), and by groups or individuals that may collect email addresses from our web site.
