Active and Local: What Makes PeopleField Usefull You may have noticed two words that pop-up regularly on this site: Active and Local. We think that these two words have real meaning in delivering a site that is useful and valuable to you. What does Active mean? Unlike other classifieds sites, we remove all classified ads after 21 days! This means that while we may have fewer ads then some sites, you can have confidence that what you find here may still be available! No more finding the perfect item and realizing it was posted months ago! Classifieds: Maximum 21 days old We take a very similar approach with our business listings. Ever gone to one of those directory sites and phone half the listing only to find they’re all out of service? With PeopleField we require that a company renews their listing every 3 months or have it removed. Again, fewer listings, but accurate! Business Listings: Maximum 90 days old What does Local mean? Local means that it is very good odds someone in your community posted the ad! How do we make sure? First – users need to register with a single city, and they can post classifieds and business listings only to that city. Second, we monitor and investigate all ads that look like spam and remove those that aren’t local. Finally, each classified has a feedback box that you can use to make sure we investigate suspicious ads! 1. Users are locked to one city in posting 2. We monitor the site for non-local and spam posts 3. All listings have a feedback mechanisim you can use to alert us to spam We do have some ads that are nationally published. These are clearly marked as such, and the user has paid a fee to have those ads shown outside their city. This continues to cut down on spam (spammer hate paying) while supporting PeopleField’s efforts in a modest income to continue to grow our services!
