New Member Registered	My kitties were mistreated by a Kingston Vet (Toxopeus/Kingston Mills Veterinary). He performed unauthorized tests on my dying 12 year old kitty, who lost 1.2 kg during a little over 2 days in hospital! He then withheld oxgen from my 7 year old kitty, who was cyanotic and in respiratory distress, and misdiagnosed him. He died soon after. I filed a complaint, against this vet, with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO). I even included videotaped and photographic evidence! In his response to the CVO, the vet even admitted to withholding oxygen from my kitty. He retaliated by "black-listing" us with local vets. Then, St. Lawrence Vets refused an appointment to my very sick 11 year old kitty, who died about a week later. We were unceremoniously discharged as clients of their 3 clinics: St. Lawrence Veterinary Services, Kingston Veterinary Hospital and Barriefield Animal Hospital. My 6 1/2 year old epileptic kitty can no longer get anticonvulsants, because we have no vet. My 11 1/2 year old kitty, who is dying from lung and abdominal tumors, and heart disease, cannot get treatment. These 2 kitties had been patients at St. Lawrence Vets for over 2 years! I had telephoned them for an anticonvulsant prescription renewal and was told that everything was okay. Soon after, I got a rude call from them, telling me "where to go". In total violation of my constitutional freedom of speech, Toxopeus forced Lycos to delete my site. You will now find the information at either http://kingstonveterinarian.tripod.com or http://kingstonkittens5.blogspot.com. Since posting, Muffin has been having grand mal seizures. On Dec. 1, I videotaped about 4 minutes of a rather severe seizure (she had been convulsing at least 2 minutes prior to me getting her on camera). She still also has a urinary tract problem, which was never completely treated by St. Lawrence Vets. I had an appointment for her (Dec. 2 at 11:30 a.m.) with Dr. Brian Overgaard at Frontenac Vets. At 9:32 a.m. on the appt. day, they called to cancel. I was told that the vet refused to see Muffin or treat any animal of mine, based on what Toxopeus and St. Lawrence Vets said about me. You would think that I had owed them money or something, which I never did. All of my bills were paid immediately, at the time services were rendered, by all vets. My understanding is that, legally, vets are only allowed to pass along vital medical information when you transfer to a new clinic. Obviously, this was not the case. Overgaard is as much a crook as Toxopeus and the other vets. I am filing a complaint with the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board (Min. of Health) in Toronto. It could take 4 - 5 months for the appeal to be heard. In the Interim, I have no vet for my beloved kitties, Midnight Dew and Muffin. If you can help, please get in touch with me. New Member Registered	It is tragic that you have lost your beloved pets - I myself have lost too many - but perhaps you should let go of your grief & anger and stop laying blame. I understand that you must feel so angry and hurt that the people who you put your trust in couldn't save your kitties. However, veterinarians take an oath when they graduate to look after the health & welfare of animals and I find it hard to believe that there are FIVE veterinary clinics in one area that would have broken their oaths so blatantly. They are professionals and are held in very high esteem by the public (including myself). Unfortunately, that you are having issues with so many veterinary clinics in one city speaks volumes. Let go...getting angry & even will not bring your dear cats back. And by letting go, you will not be betraying your little friends. They trusted you and you did the very best you could for them. I have no doubt about that, and you can be assured that they knew this. Good luck, I hope you can resolve this issue soon so that you can continue your life with a little more peace (as your kitties would want).
