Hello,
I just moved to Saskatoon with my Husband not too long ago and I am expecting my first child in December. I am 25 and I am interested in finding some other expectant mothers or new mothers to start a support group with, eventually leading up to a play group. If anyone is interested in this please feel free to e-mail me, or message me back.
Thanks,
Shannon in Saskatoon

Hello! My family and I also moved to Saskatoon about 6mos ago. I have a 14mos old boy and am expecting again at the beginning of January. So far we haven't found any other moms. I am 26. I would love to get out of the house if this group is formed!!

Hi there!
Well it is really good to see someone wrote back! It gets really lonely in a new city all by yourself! Where did you move to Saskatoon from? We came here from Winnipeg on a job transfer for my Husband. My due date is December 26th so we could be really close on delivery dates! Look forward to hearing back from you!

I know all about your loneliness! We came from Regina, also on my husband's transfer. Are you working right now? I work nights and my husband works days. Where about in S'toon do you live? I am due January 9th.

Hi,
I am not working anymore. I was for about the first two months of the pregnancy...but the job was very high paced and the morning sickness got the best of me! Call me a suck! We recently moved from the East side of town (over by the Zoo), to the West side (ICK!). We actually just bought a house. The area is not too bad though. Where abouts are you living? Found anything fun to do in this city yet?

We live on the East side in Lakeview. The only fun thing that we have found besides shopping, is Kindermusik (a parent baby music program). If you are at home all day you must be bored!! What have you been doing?

Yes...bored is right!! Buying a house has helped with the boredom. I've been doing a lot of painting and rearranging. I just finished the Babys room, so now I'm starting to get a little antsy with no more home reno's to keep me occupied! I do a lot of reading!! The long distance bill talking to friends/famliy in Winnipeg was getting a little high so I figured I'd better find some people here before we go bankrupt!!
We have yet to find many fun things to do here either. Just eating out and shopping! Isn't it hard for you with your Husband working days and you working nights. You must barely see each other. Do you get home to Regina to visit often?

It is hard to have opposite schedules, we see each other for about an hour a day. It sucks but I will be on mat leave soon. Do you know the sex of your baby? How did you decorate the room? We still have to do that. I bought some alphabet cards from Chapters to use as a border and we have to pick a paint color. What hours does your husband work?

We want to know the sex of our Baby. We are waiting to see if the Doctor will give us another ultra-sound.We asked for another one and she told us that it's not customary to do more then one. Both of my friends who recently had babies in Winnipeg had two ultra-sounds each, so I am a little mad about that.We even said we would pay for the ultra-sound if that was the problem!! Do you know the sex of your Baby? We both really want a Girl.
Since we don't know the sex it was hard to paint the room. It took me three months to pick colours! I ended up with blue and purple so it wasn't too girly or too boyish. It's a light purple, maybe a shade or two darker then lilacs, and the blue is Iris blue (if you know the colour of iris's!) I painted two walls blue and two walls purple. We put up white shelves for books or stuffed animals and we have all white furniture in there. It looks really great. I like that border idea though, I was thinking of painting A,B,C's on the walls in white but a border would be a lot easier.
My Husband works at T.D Bank so his hours are pretty good. He works 9am to 5:30pm most days. He works some Saturdays but when he does, the following weekend he gets off Sat, Sun, Mon. So that's nice. I see him quite a bit but he is always studying for some course at night so that takes up a lot of his time.
Are you going to child birth classes? I am trying to figure out if it is a waste of time or not!

Your room sounds really nice! I love 2 toned rooms, we have our bedroom painted with 2 different colors like that. We chose not to find out the sex. We did with our first and I loved knowing. I am a planner. My husband didn't want to know this time. We took the child birth classes last time and I thought it was worth while. The classes more or less tell you what to expect and help you with some breathing. We probably aren't going to take them this time b/c we don't have a babysitter and I work nights. I would recommend you take them though, you can at the least meet some other expecting moms.

I agree about knowing the sex! It would really ease my mind if I knew. I am a planner too, almost obsessively! It drives me crazy that I can't buy gender specific clothes and decide on a name. I want to paint the name on the nursery door and I can't do that until after it's born, which means it will probably never get done!! I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I will find out if we get another ultra-sound. I don't want to get my hopes up though.
I will think about the childbirth classes. It would be a good way to meet some other Moms. I already feel quite prepared for the labour and delivery, but I guess it couldn't hurt. I really want a water birth but I'm not sure if that's something they offer here in the hospitals. I would love to have the Baby at home but I know I am going to want an epidural! How long was your labour with your son? Did you get an epidural? How many weeks were you when you went into labour?

My labour was long - 26hours. I tried to stay at home as long as I could -12hrs - then we went to the hospital. After another 3 hours I decided that I needed the epidural. It helped a lot! I still felt a lot of pressure and discomfort but no pain, which was good enough for me!! My son was born at 6:22am on his due date. I did hemorrhage after which was the worst, most painful part of the whole labour. I think because I thought it was over and was ready to be with my baby and I couldn't. But it is like they say, it's pain with a purpose and it is definately worth it! Hey, it's only been 14mos and I am due again in 3.5mos! Our kids are going to be born pretty close together if you are due on Dec26th and if you end up being a bit late! How are you feeling now? Baby moving lots? Are you getting quite big? Thyme is having a scratch and save sale on right now if you are interested. I went today and spent a little too much, but I got 20% off everything so what the heck!

Wow, that is long labour. I want to try and stay at home...and CALM as long as possible too. That's the plan anyways! Who knows if it will happen. That's so crazy that your son was born on your due date, I've never heard of that actually happening before! I have a feeling that I'll go over my due date. No reason really, just a feeling. We'll see if I'm right! Our kids could be really close together, you're right. Even so they will only be a couple weeks apart. That's kind of cool.
I'm feeling pretty good now. I was bad for a good part of the pregnancy though. Up until 5 months I felt like absolute crap! I'm going to the chiropractor next week to get cracked! I'm having a hard time sleeping because my hips hurt so much. How are you feeling so far?
I'm not getting too big, well my stomach is HUGE!! The rest of me is okay I guess. I have put on about 17 pounds which I thought was a bit much but the doctor said I am right on track for 27 weeks. I'm usually a fairly small person though and it's hard putting on so much weight, so quickly! I'm really afraid I won't be able to loose it all. I guess it's worth it though. I'm sure most women worry about that as well.
Good news from the doctor today by the way...She decided to give us another ultra-sound after all! I am pretty excited about that. So if all goes well we will be finding out the sex in a couple weeks. I think I may just go and check out that sale at Thyme. I love it there. I spent way too much money there a couple months ago, but now I need bigger clothes! I love going to a store where everything fits! It's kinda weird.

Congrats on the ultra sound! Soon you will be able to shop for more specific stuff! That will be fun (and more expensive)! I am feeling ok. Very tired with working, looking after the most active little boy in the world, and being pregnant. I am counting down the days until work is over. The only good thing about working is having money again. I didn't enjoy the lack of money when we were on mat leave EI. Are you going to get that since you are off already? How will your benefits work? I have not gained very much weight at all, about 5-10 pounds (I lost 10 at the beginning). And I have the "ball belly" just in the front again. I remember last time I could fit into my regular jeans 3 weeks after baby but then I fell into the cookie trap. I was sitting at home all day, watching baby and soaps, and my eating habits were crappy!! So that's where I gained some unwanted afterbaby weight. I am going to be very careful about doing that again! You body does enough crazy things after pregnancy without you not being careful and adding weight to it! Sore hips bother me too, although not as much as last time. I have to flip about every 30min at night and in between that, go to the bathroom! Sleep is not as enjoyable anymore! I have been lucky b/c my son is an excellent sleeper. He sleeps from 9:30-9:30, since he was 7 mos old. Have fun shopping and let me know if they got anything new in.

I won't be getting maternity leave because I only worked for two months of the pregnancy. So that sucks, but we will be getting child tax. I was a high risk pregnancy from the start and my Husband didn't want me working, so we knew we probably wouldn't be getting any mat leave since I would have to quit early. It would have been nice though!
I also can only sleep on one side for about a half an hour, then I have to turn over until that side gets sore!! It's really annoying because I normally really enjoy sleeping! Betweeen peeing and turning I barely get any at all!! I went to the chiropractor yesterday, that seemed to really help with last nights sleep.Have you considered going to one? It is supposed to help with labour as well I've heard. I'm also going to get one of those body pillows, they are supposed to relieve some of the pressure on the hips.
I can't get in for another ultra-sound until the 24th of October! I will be 31 weeks by then but atleast I get one. I can't wait to find out the sex! The next month is going to drag on for so long.

I think that the month will go quicker than you think. It seemed like the first half of pregnancy went so slow now I can't believe that we ill have a baby in 3 mos!! If you are interested in more shopping, Gymboree is opening Friday. I am going to check it out and check out the programs that they have for the little ones. They are offering free sample classes. I have a body pillow and I find it makes sleeping more comfortable. It's like an extra person between my husband and me, but at least I can get a better sleep! I am afraid of chiropractors, I hate the cracking noises!! I was going to become one until I went to one and couldn't stand the cracking!! Have a good weekend!

I hope you're right about the month going quickly!! I can't really decide if this pregnancy has seemed long or not...The doctor's appointments seem to come quickly but I don't seem to get more pregnant!! I can say that I have enjoyed the last month the most. The first two trimesters were really hard and uncomfortable for me and now I feel just fine. Besides the sleeping issues!! I know it will only get worse from here on out so I am enjoying it as much as I can.
I used to be afraid of the Chiropractor until my Mom forced me to go with her. I've always had back problems and I finally decided to give it a try about a year ago.Now I love the cracking sounds!! It's how I know it's working! I wish someone could teach my Husband how to do it.I definetly think it's not for everyone though. I have never had a massage before and they are covered under medical so I think I may try that too.
Where is Gymboree opening up? Maybe I will go and check that out.
Have a good weekend too!!

I had a massage a couple of weeks ago and it was really nice! It was just hard enough to feel good, I was stiff the next day. I am also covered for them so I am going to try and go every 2 weeks or so. I went to the Gymboree and it is not the clothing store. It was just the gym and classroom. They do sell some toys though. The gym class turned out to be exactly what I was looking for, it is perfect for my son! He is a VERY active boy and this is basically a play and blow of some extra energy with kids his age class. Perfect! We signed up. It is a little expensive ($165) but worth every penny if he enjoys it!

That's good that you found something fun for your son! I can't wait to start joining groups like that, Mom and Baby exercise classes and stuff. There is this water aerobics class at Lawson Heights pool for pregnant women. I think you can go after the baby is born as well. I haven't been yet, but I heard about it and I think I may check it out. It is on Thursday evenings. Good way to get some exercise and I love the water, maybe to meet some other Mom's as well.
How much more work do you have left? You must be thinking about quitting some time soon.
