Hi guys,
I am new to Canada and do not really know the rules here...
If my roomies are making a drunk party for the whole night and I cannotsleep, may I callpolice to kick the guests out?
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can call police, but your roomies need to be clear on the rules of the house, also.

I would seek advice from the person who actually owns the house or wherever you live because they may have a separate agreement with your roomies. The owners may even be drunks themseleves and not give a damn. The police should be brought in only as a very a last resort because you still have to live with your partying roomies since christmas and new years is coming soon and the drinking season is upon us you may have to do some serious negotiating or plan to move out.

You most certainly can call the police and they could receive a big fine to boot and that could result in one heck of a black eye. If I were you I would pack up my bags and look for a better place.

By the way, the police would only intervene if the noise was very late at night and loud enough to distrub the neighbours. If you want to stay, get ear plugs.

Are you crazy? You must want to move or like feeling like you are not welcome in your own home because if you call the cops on your Roomies for partying away your Z's they will for sure stage a coo and mission "get you our of the house" will commence. they'll either be upfront with you and kick your ass out by physically removing you samt belongings or they'll make it so that you feel so unwanted and uncomfortable in your own house that you'll leave on your own terms. Either way you'll be moving and take my word for it, moving in January is less than fun and definitely not a good idea. Keep in mind there's a housing shortage....so good luck finding a place on short notice.
Look, I read the advice that was offered to you by the "others" and although they are right about you being within your rights LEGALLY to call the police in such a case, I would highly recommend that you first do everything you can to work it out with them yourself. Do not call the police unless you are being threatened by one of the "ROUDIES" or you feel like you are in some form of immediate danger. If you decide not to take my advice and decide to call in the cops for Zzzz control then do yourself a favor, make it an anonymous call and hope that they won't find out that it was you.
Here's my suggestion to you, take it or leave it. Sit down with your roomates and hash out some kind of compromise that you will all have to agree on and live with. I should add that Canadians have a different idea and way of partying than...lets say a european does. Canadian youth party like they are getting it our of their system and generally speaking to them...the more hard core you go the more hard core you are, and that is a good thing.
good luck
