BEWARE: Job Offers from Altig International/A.I.L.

An insurance company that goes under both the names “Altig International” and “American Income Life” is constantly recruiting people on job sites across Canada and the United States.

This is a multi-level marketing (MLM) company that expects you to pay upfront fees to licence yourself, and is a 100% commission sales position. You are also expected to recruit people under you in order to move up in the company.

If you post your resume on a job site, you will probably get an email from this company, asking you to come in for an interview, even if the skills on your resume have nothing to do with insurance or sales. Before you reply back or consider going to an interview, I strongly recommend you read the many postings about this company by past employees on www.scam.com. (In particular, read the threads “American Income Life Is A Scam” and “American Income Life is a Fraud.”)

For those of you who are already aware of this company.....

Kathy Tomlinson, a reporter with CTV National News, is looking for information from any Canadians who have experience with this company. In particular, she is looking for someone with direct experience working for this company, who is willing to be interviewed on camera about their experience(s). She can be reached at 416-313-2486 or at whistleblower@ctv.ca

Her deadline is fast approaching, so please reply ASAP.

Thanks for the warning.
Here's another company to watch out for. Consumer Concepts Inc. They're an event marketing company like many other's they find high profile client's and then set up demonstrations for local reps to hand out samples or demonstrate the product. Unlike many event marketing companies this one is disorganized, terribly rude, and they do not pay on time (maybe 2-3 months later) or do not pay at all. www.consumer-concepts.com Avoid them like the plague.

Thank god I came accross this site! I had an email sent to me (I have my resume on a few job sites) and Roger Smith (CEO) emailed me and wanted me to give him a call. Most of the jobs I've been looking into have been about the same salary, and I am in marketing/sales. I checked out the website www.altig.com and it seemed legit. So, whoever has dealt with this "scam" company I am sorry to hear it, but thanks so much for the warning!

I am so shocked.........I am not an employee or agent for AIL but did go to the interview.
You complain that they charge you an upfront fee..........oh my god !!!!!

Do you understand that you get a license !!!!!!! AN LLQP

Its your license to keep and you can use this license to get a job in any insurance company............it is thru IFIC and you get a discount thru AIL.

As for being commission..........boy...........they are pretty upfront about that in the interview...........if you want an $8 per job, go to mcdonalds
If you are serious about a career........commission and running your business is the way to go..........

Canadians have to be the most skeptical people in the world..........
I am a CAnadian but I am glad I don't think like all of you !

MLM !!!!!!!!!!!! DO you guys even know what you are talking about !
The fee they charge is for YOUR LICENSE

I am just shocked! People, get a life........if you can't handle a commission job, don't apply

Amazed... I get what you are saying. Yes you have to pay and keep up with licencing and commision isn't something to stick one's nose up at, but when I go for an interview, and I watch the interviewer praying on young, naive people, who like most don't want to work at mc donalds, I see that as a concern.

I applied for some electrical jobs, and these people called me. I hadnt heard of them, and some of the jobs posted dont have company names listed. But still, American Income doesnt sound like an electrical company. I thought maybe parent company. I asked what position I applied for, and she said "we don't know based on resume's what positions are being requested" or something along those lines. So, I gave her a generic response about working in the trades and she said that this was a management/marketing position, wished me luck, and that was it. I was still very puzzled so I did a quick google search and lo and behold I find this post. Very interesting!

Don't listen to amazed! He's just a goon they hired and he can't get anyone to come in for an interview because of sites like these that warn people ahead of time, that's why he's so bitter.

About the money. They ask you to pay upfront $709 (in Edmonton, AB anyways). $397 goes to the Licensing course and the rest... which is $312 goes into their pockets! Yes, that's right, they pocket YOUR hard earned money!

Amazed, why didn't you mention that part, ay? I used to work there and I know that they are nothing less than a scam! Many people went bankrupt because of this company. amazed, it sounds like you only started working there and got blinded by their smoke screen. I truly do wish you the best of luck, but when things go wrong, and they will, don't say I didn't warn you.

The company names they use are AIL, American Income or Altig. Beware people!

If you need more info on this scam of a company, feel free to email me at jtrudeau2000@hotmail.com.

...A goon eh? Untill ANY of you show me some hard proof that what im going for is a scam (which there isnt any), or know what your talking about (which you dont) just stop talking. 90% of the people who complain are either from diffrent insurance compeditors, who dont get paid as well so they get angry or people who didnt make the cut.

They only hire 3% of the people they interview, and to honest, your dealing with people everyday, just because you have customer service down on your resume doesnt make you a people person. It just allows you deal with people yelling at you, which few do.

The people Ail sees, are union members who WANT to be seen. No cold calling, no door to door. You walk in, you say heres your options, they say i dont want thoes options, you say fine heres your benifits, have a nice day. and your out of there.

The stuff altig provides is amazing for the premiums. in fact its great for what you get. And before you go off running saying im a "goon hired by altig/AIL" I'm still writing the exam, which is the hardest exam you will EVER take. Another reason why people hate it.

CNN, the BBB and various other companies have looked into AIL/Altig and found NO evedince of ANY sort of scam.

$397 goes toward the Licensing course (LLQP) and the other $312 pays for your training during and after you pass the exam.

its not for everyone, let me clear that up now, people who havent made the cut can go broke. but its no ones fault but their own. Its a home study program which your mentor helps you with and everything in the job is under YOUR control after training. Booking, apointments, hours, who you train, everything. the amount of money you make is souly dependant on how hard you work. Plus you can retire after 10 years with a steady paycheck.

Find me an article written by CNN, the BBB or some other reputable company, that shows its a scam and then you can start throwing accusations around.

Direct_i you need some hard proof eh? how about you go ahead with the company, let it ruin your all relationships , and put you on the verge of bankruptcy? or take few notes from what i have to say. i quit AIL after 2 works from the position of GA, which is quite high poisition, why? its unethical business, couldnt see i was ruining people's life. AIL is a legitimate business but its unethical. hope you believe in ethics, do you?

lets clear few thing. they hire only 3% they interview? who told you, they wanna hire every single person they interview. most people dont wanna pay any money at front ( smart people). or some find it hard to pass the exam.
recruitment: each manager is responsible for building their own team so we had to collect resume from job sites regardless of their back grounds we call every single person for interview. during their presentation, all they show you is glitters, money and unrealistic dream. their presentation is utter bullshit to brainwash people.i did presentation myself, and have lied upfront if someone ask question that contradict of what i said. eventually i started loosing respect for myself.
training: they provide you training and give you $500 allownce, but its not free, they will deduct it from your pay.( they will never tell you this in the begining)

Leads: legitimate leads? Not at all.lets see, first they deal with a union to provide benefits, now president will send a card to memeber stating union is gonna provide some free benefits, if you are interested fill this cards. member fill this card coz they have been told its free, no they dont wanna buy insurance ( how come these leads are ligitimate?).

Leads: they will give you 20-25 leads a week, if you're lucky. but will push you hard for referrals.out of those 20-25 leads half has already been used.n if you complain they will put you down by saying if you dont do 20 presentations a week, you have no right to complain. do your math, if its ever possible to do 20 presentation, ( in my 2 year, max presentation i could do was 14).

Appointment: very imp part of the business, you have to lie to get an appointment, you have to tell them that your free union benefit package will be deliverd to you. its not gonna cost you. but while you're in home, you pressurise them to pay for it. their scrip is highly designed on psychological methods though its full of bullshit.

your day; now you have appointments , may be you have to travel 2-3 hrs to next town. gas/food everything is not paid, its from your own pocket.

this is the job for people who dont wanna work for $8/hr but you put almost 70-80hrs in this job n if you do math, you actually make less than 8$,

people trust me, coz i have been in this business for quite a long time, i personally have lied on constant bases. ( now i just cant take anymore, i 've lose respect for myself). i have seen alost 95% ruined their life who joined this company. choice is upto you.

Direct_i, you're only in the middle of studying now?? Are you serious?? Where do you get the guts to stand up for a company you haven't even worked for yet??! LOL! You're so pathetic. I'm sorry, but you have no idea what's about to happen in your life.

I'm talking from experience, I used to work there and I lost more than $12,000. I had to use my credit card where ever I went because I couldn't afford to pay for my bills anymore. And my mortgage, I almost had a foreclosure!! That's how bad working at AIL is!

Ok, just think about it for a minute. You have to call these leads that they provide you, you call them from 4 pm till 9 pm without any breaks twice a week, sometimes more. The people you're calling to try to book an appointment with, most of them don't want to talk to you, they all think you're a telemarketer and most of them don't remember filling out that yellow card. Booking nights were the most stressful for me!

Afterwards, you go to see someone for an appointment, a lot of the times, it's a no show. A lot of people either leave the house or don't bother answering the door because they DON'T want to talk to you. Seeing 20 people a week is very difficult, not many people can do it.

I'm not bitter towards the company, I'm just worried that someone who is as innocent and unknowing as I was, will go bankrupt because of AIL. It's just not worth it. My friend who used to work at AIL told me that one of her clients called because the husband died so they wanted to fill out a claim so they can get their money for the funeral. Guess what happened?

AIL is saying he had a pre-existing condition, and they don't want to pay them! That's BS! When I was selling life insurance policies, I have to say that "once approved, this is 100% guaranteed, no one can take these away from you!" Well obviously that was a lie because AIL doesn't want to pay them now!

Sorry to dissappoint you, but this Company really is a scam. If you don't believe me, then google AIL lawsuit, you'll see what comes up.

Good luck, you're gonna need it.
