On Sunday, October 22, 2006, the Fourth Annual Jesse's Scissors-in-Motion Hair Cut-a-Thon Fundraiser will be held in salons across the greater Toronto area – including a unique on-site salon right in the Sick Kids Hospital's Atrium where we not only raise funds but also provide free haircuts for the young patients on this special day. Proceeds of this event will bring music therapy to critically ill children in palliative care through the Hospital For Sick Children's Music Therapy in Palliative Care Program. Palliative Care helps to provide sick children, for whom a cure is uncertain or even unlikely, with optimal comfort and quality of life. Sadly, this may include preparing for a compassionate passing. Beginning Monday October 2nd, 2006, supporters are asked to pre-book and pre-pay for their $30 hair cut (a super deal!) or make a donation by calling the hotline 416-201-5208 or 1-800-254-7719. Our goal is to raise funds for the Sick Kids Hospital Registered Music Therapist to facilitate 100 music therapy sessions to terminally ill children as they move from life to death with peace and dignity, comforted by their families, caregivers and a music therapist.
