posted in Universal Energy Scam: Rates Higher than Local PUC 22 March 2007 8:47 PM I was also scammed by these people. They mentioned nothing about a new company, switching providers, or anything like that. They said they were sent by the provincial government (as the OP posted), and that they simply wanted to see if we were eligible for the new program which would reduce our rates - again, no mention of signing up for anything, I what I was filling out was an APPLICATION form, not a contract of any kind. I was told there would be a phone call to confirm we were still interested in the program within 10 days. When they called, I told them to cancel the application IMMEDIATELY. They said "no problem, it's done, no worries". One week later, my roommate and I get a letter in the mail from Universal saying our application has been approved and bsically "welcome on board".. HUH???!!!!! What recourses do we have??!!	Ontario Forum
