By the way, it looks like they have been at it for a really long time. In 2003 they got sued for forging signatures! Seems that this is how the whole follow-up phone call thing began...

Wow! I have been trying to get these people off my back since July 2007. While I am relieved to read these posts and know that I'm not alone, it also makes me even more infuriated to know that they have been doing this for so long. (And apparently in so many different cities... I am in Vaughan, Ontario). Luckily for me, I decided to read the fine print and realized that their rates are higher than my current ones, so when they called me back, I gave them a big fat no (though the guy argued with me for quite awhile and acted like I was stupid). I've just learned from reading these posts that they have this phone call recorded somewhere. I will DEFINITELY get them to send it to me if something goes wrong...
The thing is, even though I said no after the phone call, I STILL got enrolled and have now had their stupid plan on my latest bills. What a rip off!!! I called them immediately. I was surprised that the woman was actually helpful (Indira). She put me on hold for a long time and when she finally came back she said that they 'had made a mistake' and that they did have record of me cancelling. She said it was a mistake that I was enrolled anyway (though now I don't believe her about that!!!!). So I got a letter from them on November 7 saying "we are pleased to advise you that, as a customer service gesture, we have accepted your request to cancel our supply..." (A 'gesture'?!? Accepted my 'request'??? Boy, how nice of them.> )
The question I have now is what happens to my bills? The lady at OES (Indira) told me that I should call them once my bills are back to normal so I could get a 'refund'. I still don't know exactly what this refund will be. Should I be asking them for my actual Enbridge bills from the last few months? Do they have these? (I am still a bit confused about how this all works...and the people at PowerStream were not very helpful either). Technically, OES has admitted that they made an error in enrolling me, so I really don't want to pay these rates on the most recent bills that arrived (which are like $100 more than normal, btw!). Can anyone give any advice? My email address is sfahlman@rogers.com.
Good luck to all, and I hope more people find these posts!!!
