posted in Universal Energy Scam: Rates Higher than Local PUC 08 April 2008 10:55 PM Hi there, can anyone help me and let me know if there is a way to get out of the contract with Universal Power? I am a student and unknowingly I locked myself into Universal Power's contract for 5 years. Now that school is almost over our household is trying to cancel the account because everyone is moving out. However, I found out that if I want to cancel the account I have to pay $1200 dollars and if I dont then my credit rating will get screwed up. Is that true?? Can Universal Power actually screw up ones credit rating? I dont work and have no means of paying that amount, but my credit rating is pretty good and i dont want to destroy it..Can anyone give me an answer.. Thanks in advance	Ontario Forum
